The Story of Amita Varsani
Hi, I’m Amita the founder and designer behind Tulip By Amita. My journey started back in 2010 with something very simple: designing bag chains and key chains purely out of love for creating beautiful things. What began as a passion slowly turned into a deeper connection with fashion, design, and statement craftsmanship.
As someone who loved contemporary Indian wear, I was always searching for jewellery that felt bold yet timeless. But I realised most designs I loved took months to arrive through imports, and that pushed me to think why not create something of my own instead?
Over the years, I explored different ideas, experimented with multiple brand names, and slowly discovered my design voice. A life-changing chapter in Kenya introduced me to the beauty of Maasai brass craftsmanship, inspiring the sculptural textures and artistic soul that define Tulip By Amita today.
For the last five years, I’ve been creating jewellery designed to feel confident, expressive, and impossible to overlook and honestly, there’s been no looking back since.

She Didn't Wait for Permission
In 2011, Amita Varsani, a homemaker and mother of two from the vibrant city of Vadodara, began doing what felt most natural to her: creating. With no formal design degree, no jewelry school certificate, and no industry connections, she simply started making jewelry at home. Piece by piece. Day by day. Driven by nothing but pure passion and an eye for elegance.
That was the quiet beginning of Tulip by Amita.

The Journey That Changed Everything
In 2017, life took Amita across the world. Her husband's business brought the family to Kenya, a land of breathtaking landscapes, rich culture, and ancient artisanal traditions. It was here that Amita's creative world was transformed forever.
She discovered the Maasai tribe, one of Africa's most iconic indigenous communities, and watched in awe as they transformed brass, a humble base metal, into jewelry of extraordinary beauty and meaning. The boldness of their craft, the rawness of their materials, and the soulfulness of their designs spoke to something deep within her.
She didn't just observe. She absorbed. She learned. She was inspired.
Brass became her medium. Storytelling became her design language.

Coming Home, Starting Over
When the world paused during the COVID era of 2020, Amita returned to India, but she was no longer the same woman who had left. She came back with a renewed purpose, a defined aesthetic, and the courage to build something real.
She formally established G.D. Trading, the company under which Tulip by Amita today proudly operates. What had once been a passion project from her home was now a legitimate, growing brand, rooted in craft, culture, and a woman's unshakeable belief in herself.
